SCHOOL SUPPLIES NEEDED

On Sunday, September 12, we invite you to join our children in bringing school supplies to church to support the ministry of the Haiti Foundation, the recipient of our children’s ministry offerings. We thought this would be a great time of year to pick up an extra supply or two to bless Haitian children impacted by this ministry.

Below is a list of needed school supplies:

Paint
White Out
Plain White Paper
Play Dough
Spiral Notebooks
Scotch Tape
White and Colored Chalk
Construction Paper
Lined Paper

The Micah Center, an organization seeking to pursue justice, introduces the first of its fall series of speakers on Tuesday, September 7 at 7:00 p.m. Dr. Nicholas Wolterstorff will speak on the topic "The Moral Significance of Poverty". You are invited to Hope Reformed Church (2010 Kalamazoo Ave SE) to hear this distinguished speaker. Admission is free.

OFF YOUR ROCKER? Are you no longer using your rocker at home? We are looking for a couple used rockers or upholstered chairs for our new "pray corner" in the Worship Center 2 classroom.  If you are able to help us out, please contact Cara Hakken.

CONSISTORY/SAB MEMBERS: If you have not RSVP'd concerning the consistory breakfast this Saturday (11th) at the restored Historic Covered Bridge Cottage in Ada, please RSVP to Carol Lee by Tuesday.

Sign up in the narthex on the cookie provider sheet to bring cookies for upcoming Sundays in the fall. Thank you!

SEPTEMBER marks the beginning of a new season here at The Community.  We don't mean the fall/autumn season, nor do we mean football season.  Hunting season is still a few months away... What we mean is AUCTION SEASON!

Auction Season is when the auction team members run around like crazy maniacs trying to obtain those perfect items to place in The Community's 5th Annual Charity Auction.  Last year's charity (Flat River Outreach Ministries) received nearly $5,000 from this event, and The Community received nearly $15,000 - which is a significant part of the church's annual budget.  We want to be able to top that number this year for the 2010 charity - Clancy Street Ministries.

This year's auction will be held in a new venue - Noto's Old World Dining Banquet Hall - on Saturday, November 6.  Please mark the date on your calendar!  In the meantime, start thinking of goods, services, and unique experiences that you can contribute to the auction to help us reach our goal!

If you'd like to help out on the Auction team, contact Edward Kuo.  Thanks!
